I'm here to help!
I am an LMFT-A (Licensed Marriage & Family Therapy Associate) under the supervision of Dr. Misti Sparks, LMFT-S. I have a Masters of Science in Marriage & Family Therapy from Texas Wesleyan University, as well as a Masters of Divinity from Duke University Divinity School. I am also a certified facilitator for Prepare/Enrich (premarital and marriage counseling).
My approach to therapy is relational and client-centered. Sessions are your time for us to talk about and work on your life. I’m an invited guest and a seasoned guide, and it’s a privilege to walk with you and your loved ones. I use an integrated approach based in family systems theory that draws from various therapeutic models and methods. In therapy, we will move at your pace and dive as deep as you want to go. I will be curious, not judgmental; I will challenge, but won’t push. My hope is our time together will help you come to terms with the past, understand and address the needs of the present, and shape a healthier and happier future.
Here’s a little more about me. I’ve been married 24 years, and we've raised our two boys into young men. I’ve served in vocational ministry for 25 years, including 12 years on college campuses. In addition to seeing clients in private practice, I work full-time at a rehabilitation center for people who have experienced traumatic brain injury. I also have therapeutic experience assisting in a psychiatric inpatient hospital as well as an addiction recovery center. I am a big sports fan and a licensed soccer coach. I love to travel, and I am a lifelong learner.
If you give counseling a try with me, and you decide it’s not a good fit, then no worries and no hurt feelings. I’m happy to help you connect with someone else to get the assistance you are seeking. That is most important!
